Institute of Cancer Research: BBC Horizon - Defeating Cancer
On 10th April at least 2.5 million people across the UK learned about the work of the ICR through the broadcast of the BBC Horizon documentary Defeating Cancer. The programme centred on three patients receiving treatment at The Royal Marsden, while the ICR’s Professors Paul Workman, Naz Rahman and Richard Marais were interviewed about the research behind these and other treatments.
Press reviews were overwhelmingly positive, with the Telegraph calling it a “fascinating documentary”, adding: “The account of how scientists at The Institute of Cancer Research investigated the B-Raf gene, discovered the way it mutated and designed a drug to combat that mutation, was an awe-inspiring medical detective story.”
