Isis Innovation: Chinese Award to Oxford’s International Technology Transfer Office

Changzhou, in Jiangsu province, is one of the birthplaces of modern industrial China and a focal point for the latest developments.  The region’s strengths include new energy, new materials, advanced equipment manufacturing, biotech and new medicines, energy saving and environmental protection, software and services, and the internet of things.

Receiving the “2012 Changzhou Industry-University-Institute Cooperation Contribution Award” on behalf of Isis Innovation, Dr David Baghurst said:

“We have been collaborating with Changzhou government and companies for several years and this award is recognition of the work to date.  Chinese companies and investors have an appetite for new high technology products and designs. Europe, and in particular the UK, has a very strong research base.

By working together with research teams across the world Isis seeks to facilitate the transfer of ideas from the research laboratory into manufacturing.  We hope that what we have achieved in Changzhou to date is just the beginning.”

Isis Innovation is the Technology Transfer Office of the University of Oxford. Dr Baghurst is leading initiatives to help technology generators connect with technology seekers equipped to develop and commercialise new innovations worldwide.

In March the Mayor of Changzhou City, Xiaodong Yao, and a delegation of government, investors and industry leaders visited Oxford to sign business deals for investment in spin-out companies from Oxford and the provision of consultancy work from Isis in Changzhou.
